As a child I wasn’t really a reading fanatic. I read because I had to or for competitions. I remember 20+ years ago, Casimir Pulaski my elementary school (in a small town of Connecticut called Meriden) would hold a competition every year. This competition is kind of like the Goodreads Reading challenge many of you do, only the kids are rewarded with prizes. i.e. pencils and notebooks
Now 20+ years later I find myself just wanting to read because I need to escape reality. We all have our daily stresses be it work, school or family. My main stress is WORK. OH MY GOODNESS sometimes I wish I didn’t have to work at all! LOL
Anyway back to the point…
About 5 years ago I was in a bad place in my life. I was just always down, didn’t want to be around anyone or even do anything. Thinking about it now it was really scary. Depression is not something people should take lightly. On my birthday those 5 years ago a cousin of mine gave me a book. She said that one of her friends was ranting and raving about it and she just knew I would like it. And that’s where my reading fascination began with the gift my cousin gave me, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
I instantly fell in love with the world Meyer created and I never looked back. After that books became my obsession. I would stay up extremely late reading and hating myself for it the next morning. Reading became my outlet. To me its fun and relaxing. Though not every book is great I always find something to push on till the end.
And now I have a blog. Something I never thought I would have. I originally started it just to write down my words. Which could be done in a notebook where no one ever saw it, but that’s not the point! Sharing my opinion whether others agree or not is the point.
And that’s what my page is all about.
Ever have a horrible day? So horrible you feel like crawling under a rock? Escaping life is nearly impossible BUT have you ever asked yourself WHAT IF? Personally, that’s a question I ask myself most days! I believe everyone needs an outlet, a place or thing to just get away. Because realistically speaking there is no rock big enough to hide from life! My Outlet happens to be reading. One page turn at a time is all the distraction I need even if I only have 20 minutes to spare; it’s enough to give my mind a break from reality.
My name is Maggie and I will be sharing my distractions with you. I do have a preference in the types of books I read. I tend to stay within the paranormal romance genre but I am not closed minded. I love to read therefore i’m willing to give anything a try. I don’t pretend to be an expert in all things books but maybe, just maybe my distractions will give you the outlet you’ve been looking for. Thank you all for taking the time to pass by. Happy reading!
