(Conflicted Love is book #2 in the Needle’s Kiss series and should be read AFTER Tattered Love to fully grasp the story.)

Trip’s life motto is simple: get in, get off, get out. His lifestyle works for him, that is until he finds himself in an unexpected situation with the one girl he can’t seem to get out of his mind.

Teeny has been strong for too long. One amazing crazy night, with her best friend’s cocky colleague, leaves her with more than just unwanted feelings and cravings she just can’t seem to quench.

She’s knocked up.

He’s freaked out.

Life is about to get crazy for two people who can’t stand to be close, yet can’t seem to pull apart. Tension and confusion turn into mood swings and midnight snacks. How can things ever go back to simple times when every direction leads to chaos?

New teaser

I threw my leg over my bike and started for her. The streetlight out front was busted, causing the place to be darker than normal. There was just enough light that as I walked behind her, I could see her sexy little ass encased in those prissy jeans she always wore. I caught up to her at the bottom of the stairs and reached out to grab her arm before she made it any further. Next thing I knew, Teen spun, her fist flying right into my nose; at the same time, she drove her knee up into my groin, dropping me like a sack of shit to the ground.

“F*ckkkkkkkk” I moaned, cupping my junk, rolling up onto my knees, and trying to get my breath back. Pain shot up into my stomach with each attempt.

“Oh, it’s just you.” Teeny breathed hard. I looked up at her through narrowed eyes.

“Oh, it’s just…F*ck, Princess. What the hell’d you do that for?” I wheezed.

“Well, you deserved it. You don’t sneak up behind a chick and expect not to get hit. Now, get up, dipsh*t. You’re making a scene,” she hissed, looking around the complex.

New author bio

What to say ? Errrr…

Lola hates all things sultanas.

Lola is a little strange and unusual.

Lola has no brain-to-mouth filter (this may or may not have gotten Lola into trouble – repeatedly).

Lola is keeping Coca-cola in business one 2lt bottle at a time.

Apparently, Lola likes to talk in the third person about herself.

This here is what my profile says everywhere:

Lola Stark lives in Australia, Is an at-home mummy with no filter, raising a hoard of minions. Lola has loved to read for as long as she can remember. When not wrangling the family, she can be found sitting at her computer, writing, facebooking or just generally messing around.

I know, I know third person again.

So what else can I tell you about me ?

I have a dog, 3 birds and a pet rock. I was a teen mum (DON’T DO IT). Right now, I’m alternating writing this and yelling at my kids to stop jumping on the bed and to go the fuck to sleep before I push them off. I may be a little.. okay, very inappropriate…often.

Junk food and I have an understanding: I eat it, it hibernates around my ass and thighs. I love music, almost any kind is fine by me.

I love fiercely and I’m protective of those that mean something to me, this has gotten me in trouble more times than I can count. I cuss like a sailor and sometimes smell like one too (hey now, McJudgy, you can’t shower, brush your teeth or hair if you’re in the middle of writing a book).

I make a mean potato-layer bake and I have slight road rage. I struggle not to laugh when my kids are inappropriate and say screwy shit. I don’t really like people…I’m that creepy chick who sits in the corner till she has a booze buzz going on, then I’m as loud as fuck. I have an addiction to shoes. I smoke like a chimney.

So that’s me!

I’m screwy and funsized (it’s not called short anymore).

You’ll either love me or hate me, but I am always just ME!

Book Review – Charmed (Nether-Netherland #1) by Erica Ridley

Charmed (Nether-Netherland #1) by Erica Ridley

Book Description

Published December 20th 2012 by Intrepid Reads
E-book source: NetGalley

Recommended for 18+ due to mature themes and sexual content

Prepare to be… Charmed!

Daisy le Fey is good at a lot of things. Math, science, accidentally turning people into pumpkins… Unfortunately, she’s not good at the one thing hiring managers look for when filling open positions for magical beings: Magic.

When she jeopardizes her apprenticeship by getting involved with sexy mortal Trevor Masterson, it’s one disaster too many. In order to stay out of purgatory, she’s going to have to ditch the human—and her one chance at true love

My Review

I enjoyed reading Charmed. It was a sweet, romantic and sexy story. Ridley writes extremely well and I did not find it hard to follow the story line.  The world she created for Daisy (tooth-fairy apprentice) and Trevor (human) was quite enjoyable. However, there were some parts that I found to be silly and unsuitable for the story line. Then again as I continued reading in all made sense, the main character Daisy le Fey is a true spirit. She is a bright spunky 27 year-old who is on a mission and someone who has the determination to get what she wants. And what is it that she wants? Respect! And in the process of gaining the respect of everyone in Nether-Netherland she finds her One True Love.

Everything seems to go wrong for Daisy and Trevor. They don’t know what they want. And in that one statement “they don’t know what they want” made this story that much better. Because who in “real life” knows what they want? No one, that’s who! And when do we realize that we want something? Yup you got it, when it’s gone! As in all love stories there are happy and sad parts and Ridley wrote them well. I was right there with all the character’s felling every emotion they felt  and those incidents/emotions are what made me want to finish the story that much faster. The need to find out if “love conquers” all was intense!

I recommend this book for those of you 18+ because though there are some silly parts there are also some heated parts where Daisy gets to know Trevor on a whole new level and vise verse. 😉

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a charming read a perfect distraction to take you away from our world into that of the fantasy Nether-Netherland. It will bring a smile to your face, have you laughing and thinking that maybe, just maybe true love can exist.

Stephanie Plum Novels

Three to Get Deadly (Stephanie Plum #3)

3 to get deadly

Book Description

Original Publication Date: June 1997
Stephanie Plum, the brassy babe in the powder blue Buick is back and she’s having a bad hair day — for the whole month of January. She’s been given the unpopular task of finding Mo Bedemier, Trenton’s most beloved citizen, arrested for carrying concealed, gone no-show for his court appearance. And to make matters worse, she’s got Lula, a former hooker turned file clerk — now a wannabe bounty hunter — at her side, sticking like glue. Lula’s big and blonde and black and itching to get the chance to lock up a crook in the trunk of her car.

Morelli, the New Jersey vice cop with the slow-burning smile that undermines a girl’s strongest resolve is being polite. So what does this mean? Has he found a new love? Or is he manipulating Steph, using her in his police investigation, counting on her unmanageable curiosity and competitive Jersey attitude?

Once again, the entire One for the Money crew is in action, including Ranger and Grandma Mazur, searching for Mo, tripping down a trail littered with dead drug dealers, leading Stephanie to suspect Mo has traded his ice-cream scoop for a vigilante gun.

Cursed with a disastrous new hair color and an increasing sense that it’s really time to get a new job, Stephanie spirals and tumbles through Three to Get Deadly with all the wisecracks and pace her fans have come to expect.

Though this is the 3rd installment to the Stephanie Plum novels I think it could be read on its own. Evanovich writes in a way that you wouldn’t be terribly lost, she provides a small background to the previous books. I do however highly suggest, to one interested, read the first two. And why do you ask?  Well because they are HILARIOUS! I actually listened to these books in my car. I would purposely drive slowly so that I got more time to listen to the story. There wasn’t a moment while listening that I wasn’t laughing like a maniac. I can only imagine what the citizen’s of Miami, FL thought as they passed my vehicle! LOL

Stephanie Plum lost her job as a lingerie buyer for a department store. She has money problems and in desperate need for ANY work to pay her bills. She blackmails her cousin Vinny the owner of a bond agency, into giving her a job as a bounty hunter. It can’t be that hard to find people, right? Wrong! Every case that is given to Stephanie turns into trouble. She is a magnet for all things to go wrong. In Three to Get Deadly Stephanie needs to pick up Unlce Mo. And everyone is giving her a hard time because “he has never done anything wrong”! Stephanie gets shot at A LOT; she gets threatening call and even got burned with a cigarette. She might even be charged herself for a crime she didn’t commit. Finding out what’s going on with uncle Mo is the only way to clear her name and at the same time find out who’s behind the black ski masks.

I love the character development. Evanovich provides the right amount of details that leaves you thinking what’s going to happen next and the scenarios and dialogue are relate-able and not extremely far fetched. Im not sure who i think is hotter Morelli of Ranger. Ranger is a mysterious. No one knows anything about him and that’s how he likes it.  Lula is a reformed hooker now working as the file clerk for Vinny. She is a wannabe bounty hunter and decides to tag along with Stephanie. Joe Morelli, a cop and old school mate of Stephanie’s is no longer hitting on her. He is being polite and Stephanie can’t contain her curiosity. What’s going on here? Is he no longer interested? She goes to extremes to make him notice her and of course like anything Stephanie does or touches it goes horribly wrong. I enjoy the back and forth banter between them and I’d like them to get together.

A few quotes from the book that made me laugh or smile:

“I checked my pocketbook to make sure I had the essentials… beeper, tissues, hair spray, flashlight, cuffs, lipstick, gun with bullets, recharged cell phone, recharged stun gun, hairbrush, gum, pepper spray, nail file. Was I a kick-ass bounty hunter, or what?”(Three to get deadly)Janet evanovich”

“…I blink back the threat of tears, swiped at my nose and narrowed my eyes. “Listen to me, you two bags of monkey shit, “I yelled. “I am not in a good mood. My car keeps stalling. The day before yesterday I threw up on Joe Morelli. I was called a fat cow by my ex-husband. And if that isn’t enough…my hair is ORANGE! ORANGE, FOR CHRISSAKE! And now you have the gall to force yourself into my home and threaten my hamster. Well, you have gone too far. You have crossed the line!”

“My sex life is okay.” “Yeah,” Morelli said. “But sometimes it’s fun to have a partner.”

These books are funny and entertaining and I highly recommend them!
