When I signed up for this blog tour we were asked if we had a preference on which author to work with. I instantly picked H.D. Gordon as I have read and loved her Alexa Mongomery SagaIt has been an honor being able to connect with HD. Gordon. So before we get started I wanted to send her a very BIG Thank You! 🙂

I love this time of year. The weather gets cooler, the days grayer and the spirits are shifted. Leaves turn bright red. Thick fog rolls in over areas surrounded by water. The days die more quickly, the world darker for longer periods. It is during this time that we grab masks and paints and costumes, turning ourselves either into the things we wish to be, or the things we fear the most. Children take to the streets to break the cardinal rule of childhood: taking candy from strangers. Ordinary yards are spotted with foam tombstones, triangular eyes and gaping mouths stare out from the faces of what used to be ordinary pumpkins, standing sentries on the doorsteps of our homes. It is during this time when the world shifts just slightly off its axis, and the taboos of our culture are dressed up in custom and paraded about in shameless exhibition.

We get to wear boots again, and wrap ourselves in warm blankets as we sip cider and watch old movies that gave us our first true taste of terror as children, the ones we laid in our beds at night replaying while being careful to keep our ankles from hanging out over the edge—should something be waiting just under our soft mattress to drag us to the place we once knew existed; the place where the boogie man made soup from the body parts of lost children. The place where our mothers would not hear our screams.

If you think about it, this time of year allows us to embrace our biggest fears without having to hide our horror. We turn our truest terror into a commercial event, knowing that one day a tombstone similar to the foam decorative ones we pick up at Target and place on our lawns will one day rest over our own heads. Only, the one that marks our resting place will not be made of foam, but rather a sturdy, cold stone. It is our way of acknowledging the thing wrapped in the white sheet, of admitting that a white sheet waits for every one of us in the not too distant future.

White Sheets is the name of the next book I will be self-publishing, and if you know anything about me, you know this book is a sequel to my paranormal thriller, Joe. If you’re looking for a good dose of real-world terror and heroism, or just an absorbing read in general, the kind that will make your pumpkin spice coffee go cold in your hand as you sit reading it under those warm blankets on your couch, then Joe is what you’re looking for.

It is a story that takes you into the mind of a genuine psychopath planning a massacre, a stuttering young girl with visions of the future, and six ordinary people who will all be in the line of fire come the time of the shooting. It opens with the psychopath, a young man who calls himself The Decider, as he is riding down the Highway toward his college campus with a semi-automatic pistol on his lap and an AK-47 in the black backpack on the seat beside him. Then we go back to when Joe, our wonderfully different heroine, sees what The Decider is planning. We watch as Joe, along with six other attendees of the college, all race toward the fateful Monday, when the man with the guns plans to make his move. It is a story about love and loss and sacrifice. It is terrifying and uplifting. It has that delicious paranormal flavor I know you love so well with real-world relevancy that will leave you breathless. It’ll go down well with that pumpkin spice coffee and the cold nights that wait ahead. You’ve got my word on it.

Also, Joe 2: White Sheets, is coming soon, and I know after reading Joe you’ll be dying to take a peek under those snow-colored covers. Just dangle your foot out over the edge here, my darlings. I swear it’s perfectly safe. J

Happy Halloween, everyone! And thank you so much for reading!

H. D. Gordon

Cover Reveal – Something Wicked by Angela Campbell

15 Oct

Title: Something Wicked by Angela Campbell

Series: (The Psychic Detectives Series #2) – Can be read as a stand-alone

Published by: Harper Impulse

Publication date: October 31st 2013

Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romantic Suspense

Psychic medium Alexandra King is sick of being pestered by her boss’s dead mother demanding help to reunite her two estranged sons. Determined to get some peace and quiet again, Alexandra follows a lead in finding the younger Collins brother to Charleston, South Carolina, where she immediately meets the hottest man she’s ever laid eyes on and finds herself a willing participant in seduction. Of course, her one-night-stand turns out to be none other than Dylan Collins — her boss’s younger brother and a homicide detective who believes psychics are a complete waste of time.

All Dylan wants is a few hours of pleasure to take his mind off of the case haunting him. A serial killer is stalking the streets of The Holy City — a killer who calls himself The Grim Reaper. When the woman he’d just spent the night with turns up and offers her services as a psychic consultant on the case, his ardor quickly cools. Last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a con artist.

It doesn’t take long for Dylan to realize Alexandra is the real deal – and the killer’s next target. Dylan’s protective instincts battle his reluctance to get too involved with a woman he isn’t sure he can trust. As they get closer to finding the killer, they also grow closer to one another, but will Alexandra’s secret agenda destroy their chance at happiness — if the killer doesn’t strike first?
