Random Post: The Worst Film Adaptation of a Book

21 Aug

I’m sure I could provide you with a long list as most film adaptations of a book are done badly. And I don’t mean horrible, just not what I expected. Anyhow the one “book to movie” that sticks out to me happens to be Beautiful Creatures. I really enjoyed this book. The world Garcia created was amazing. I read and posted a review of this book on Goodreads back in February. Being true to myself I try to to give spoilers and to bring across what i felt in as little words as possible.

Read from February 08 to 10, 2013
“Mortals. I envy you. You think you can change things. Stop the universe. Undo what was done long before you came along. You are such beautiful creatures.”

I must say for my first book of 2013 I was not disappointed. This book on many levels was refreshing. First, being written in Ethan’s perspective was different. There aren’t many love stories written this way and I felt invigorated. Now it wasn’t just that Ethan is a great guy someone any teen would die to meet and fall in love with, all the characters were well written. The story flowed nicely. The events between the past and the present kept me wanting to read more. And of course once you get started you need to know how it ends.

I was extremely happy when I found out there was going to be a movie. And OMG when I went to see it I wanted to walk out of the theater. EVERYTHING was different. Even some of the main characters. I was shocked.

Now this is just my opinion but I think authors need to hold their ground and not allow so many changes to be made. What do you think? I know that books have loads of details and not everything can be put in a 2 hour film but if you were an author would you allow the screenwriter to butcher your story?

Now I wrote this post because The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones came out today and you know what? I’m scared to see a failure. :/

Read from April 25 to 29, 2012
I enjoyed reading book. There were some slow parts but hopefully the series get’s better. I loved Clary, she was a strong character in all the madness. I didn’t however like how things ended up with her and Jace but there are weirder things. Jace’s character was perfect. He has a troubled soul with all the lies he’s been told and believed but in the end he is shown the truth and feels like he belongs. Adjustments need to be made but a new start lies before them…looking forward to book 2.

What’s your opinion on this matter?

A Little Thank You!

12 Aug

ThankYou

A month ago I started this blog just to jot down my thoughts. Not really caring if anyone would see it, would like it or even follow it. But as I make my post about the wonderful books I’ve read I realize that wasn’t completely true. I find myself happy that in such a short time I have more followers then I thought I would. I’m still all new to this blogging bit but I wanted to show my appreciation.

So this is a little thank you to those who have come out and read, like and follow my post/blog.

Thank you!

Temporary delight!

My sadness has somewhat subsided today. By noon today I had already clocked in my 40 hours for the week. I took an extra long lunch (1.5 hours) and when I got back to the office my boss informed me that I could go home. Now this is good right? Who wants to stay at the office late on a Friday? I had mixed feeling about this because it just so happens that my office has some new software and OMG you wouldn’t believe how difficult it is to start using a new software after using the old one for 7 years!! Not that I have a hard time with it, I’m the SUPERUSER! Sounds glamorous huh? NOT!! Being pulled for your own job to help others is hard. Not that I mind helping, it’s that my load doubles and I felt like I got nothing done this week. FRUSTRATED does not even describe my feelings. Anyway, home I went trying to be positive but on the ride home I thought of my very sad nonfunctional laptop.

I couldn’t deal with not having my laptop. It’s like breathing without lungs, I mean seriously without it I really don’t know what to do with myself. And believe me even with my Nook I’ve been sulking for the past 4 days. So I took a detour to Tigerdirect. Dell wasn’t helpful so what did I have to lose. 160 dollars later I placed an order for my replacement battery and AC adapter (charger). But I couldn’t just leave it be so I played around with the cord of the charger which is all twisted and bent. LOL it’s a wonder why this thing hasn’t broken on me sooner. And after 20 minutes “I saw the light!” Yup, it actually turned on and now I’m up and running again. This should last me until I get the replacement parts scheduled to arrive on Monday. So EXCITED!

Now I’m going to work on my reviews and maybe now I’ll be a bit more motivated to read so that I can share all my distractions with you! Fingers crossed I don’t mess up the charger before I get my hand on the new one!

Yup thays right… OMG I’m more excited now then I was before!! The book has a title! And though the Summer of 2014 seems far away it really isn’t especially since I have so many other books to read while I wait!

So sad…

6 Aug

Today was yet another stressful day at the office. My computer crashed and I wasn’t able to do anything!! I was beyond frustrated.

image

I attempted to make my life easier by working from my laptop yes thats right i drove 30 minutes home to pick up my Dell and you won’t believe what happened… UGH my charger decided to break. Can you say black cloud!

So now I’m stuck without my laptop. And you know what’s even better?  When I contacted Dell to purchase a new battery and charger I was told “unfortunately we don’t have any in stock for you model.”

image

I mean seriously what is that all about?!?!?!?

Now I’m on the hunt to find myself a reasonably priced battery and charger for one of my prized possessions.  Wish me luck!

At least I still have my Nook! 😉
